In an atmosphere of inspiration and joy, with the best hopes, the people of Turkmenistan are celebrating the National Spring Holiday – International Novruz Day. According to tradition, the main celebrations on this day took place at the Novruz ýaýlasy site in the Ak Bugday etrap of the Ahal velayat.
Since ancient times, Novruz Bayramy has symbolized the awakening of nature and the renewal of life. With the onset of spring, everything around is transformed literally before our eyes, blossoms with bright colors, the earth is dressed in an emerald outfit. The picturesque natural beauty of the Kopetdag foothills, the invigorating clean air, saturated with the aroma of herbs and flowers, give everyone an elevated mood. In the era of the Renaissance of a new era of a powerful state, the centuries-old traditions and customs of this bright holiday, which occupies a worthy place in the rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen people, are acquiring new content.
As is known, in 2009, Novruz was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. And in 2010, at the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly, a Resolution was adopted under the agenda item "Culture of Peace" on celebrating International Novruz Day on March 21. This became evidence of recognition of the significance and role of this wonderful holiday in strengthening friendly relations and solidarity between peoples. Thus, Novruz is an excellent example of fruitful intercultural dialogue, embodying the inseparable connection of times and the continuity of generations, the inviolability of universal humanistic values. In his congratulatory Address to compatriots, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasizes: "In the International Year of Peace and Trust, when the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality is widely celebrated, the historical significance of the National Spring Holiday - International Novruz Day - is growing even more." As the head of state notes, this holiday awakens pure feelings, love, beauty and peace in people's hearts. "With historical roots going back thousands of years, Novruz has been an integral part of the life and culture of the peoples of the East since ancient times. The traditions of Novruz Bayramy reflect the identity of each nation, strengthening friendship, unity, peace and trust between peoples," the President of Turkmenistan emphasized in his festive Address.
Today, the atmosphere of a great Turkmen feast reigns at "Nowruz ýaýlasy", music and songs are heard. The festive celebrations reflect the deeply meaningful works of the Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, as well as the wise traditions and customs of our people, whose mentality has always been based on peacefulness and good neighborliness, friendliness and openness, hard work and the desire to create.
In the improvised village with elegant yurts spread out on Nowruz ýaýlasy, one can get a clear idea of the way of life of the Turkmen people, their wise family traditions and rituals, and the peculiarities of rural life.
