Turkmen and American Businessmen Discuss Priorities for Interaction

As part of the working visit of President Serdar Berdymukhamedov to the United States of America, a business forum titled “Turkmen-American Business Cooperation: New Opportunities and Prospects for Partnership Development” was held.
The event was attended by heads of government agencies and representatives of business circles from Turkmenistan and the US, including well-known companies such as John Deere, General Electric (GE), SpaceX, Oppenheimer Holdings Inc., as well as The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
This event is a vivid testimony to the consistently developing bilateral trade and economic relations, which are founded on the principles of effective dialogue and mutual respect.
Before the start of the forum, which aimed to identify promising areas for partnership, the participants familiarized themselves with an exhibition of Turkmen products organized there. The exposition clearly demonstrated the colossal export potential of our country, which is confidently pursuing the path of national economic diversification and industrialization.
Representatives of the American side highly praised the high-quality and environmentally friendly food products, textile and leather goods, and medical devices presented by the enterprise "Arkadag Medisina Klasteri Menejment" and produced in Turkmenistan. A special place at the exhibition was occupied by the books of Hero-Arkadag and President Serdar Berdymukhamedov.
Performances by Turkmen masters of art, who showcased the rich national cultural heritage, added a special flavor to the event.
Opening the forum, Executive Director of the Turkmenistan-U.S. Business Council (TUSBC) Eric Stewart noted the Council's role in strengthening relations between the private sectors of the two countries. As emphasized, this platform has stood the test of time and today serves as an effective mechanism that must be utilized more actively.
The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan presented an overview of the favorable investment climate created in our country as a result of comprehensive state support. Particular emphasis was placed on the immense opportunities opening up for American companies in terms of implementing projects across various sectors of the Turkmen economy.
In turn, heads of specialized US organizations noted the growing interest of American businessmen in the rapidly developing Turkmen market, confirming their readiness to participate in implementing Turkmenistan’s socio-economic development programs, and to provide advanced technologies, innovations, and best global experience.
The Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs provided information on the financial and banking mechanisms and economic achievements in force in our country, as well as the national monetary and credit strategy being pursued. As noted, great importance is attached in state policy to increasing the activity of the banking sector, which influences not only the sustainability of the economy but also the growth of all sectors. At the same time, it was emphasized that fruitful partnership is being carried out with authoritative international financial organizations and the Fitch Ratings agency to ensure the innovative development of the banking complex, increase partnership with international and regional financial organizations, and improve the system for lending to economically significant sectors.
The Deputy Head of the State Concern "Turkmengaz" presented a report on long-term cooperation opportunities in the fuel and energy complex, as well as on projects aimed at enhancing regional energy security, diversifying export routes, and developing "green" energy.
During the exchange of views, it was noted that Turkmenistan’s foreign policy course, based on the principles of neutrality, serves as a solid foundation for building equitable, mutually beneficial, and prospective interaction with the United States of America.
The main topic of discussion was the activity of the Turkmenistan-U.S. Business Council (TUSBC), established in 2008 on the initiative of Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, which is an effective mechanism for developing bilateral economic relations. The meetings and forums regularly held within its framework create excellent opportunities for strengthening partnership between the state structures and business circles of the two countries and establishing new business contacts.
Regarding cooperation in the fuel and energy complex, the parties discussed issues related to the modernization of relevant infrastructure, the introduction of environmentally friendly, advanced technologies, as well as the intensification of partnership in the field of renewable energy, which corresponds to the global climate change agenda.
Investments stand out as one of the most promising vectors for interaction. In this context, special attention was paid to the potential for trade and economic cooperation, and mechanisms for its full realization were defined. Confidence was expressed in the continued successful development of Turkmen-American relations, which have received a new impetus in recent years.
Furthermore, emphasis was placed on the importance of intensifying partnership in areas such as high technologies and digitalization, including cybersecurity, communications, and digital infrastructure.
The productive and active nature of the discussions on the forum's agenda demonstrated a high level of trust and mutual understanding between the parties, as well as their interest in deepening cooperation.
In the speeches of Turkmen businessmen, it was noted that the private sector currently takes an active part in implementing our country's foreign economic initiatives and makes a worthy contribution to the progressive transformations underway. The reports also highlighted the achievements of the non-state sector and the investment potential of Turkmenistan. A special accent was placed on the favorable opportunities and incentives created in Turkmenistan for business development.
Turkmen private companies specializing in the construction sector provided information on the large infrastructure projects being implemented, the available capabilities in the construction of industrial facilities and modern residential complexes, and the accumulated experience. In this regard, the speakers noted the Turkmen side's interest in cooperating with American companies in the supply of equipment and "green" construction technologies.
One of the main topics of discussion was cooperation in the processing industry. In particular, a desire was expressed for partnership and the exchange of experience in areas such as the production of high-quality food and textile products meeting international standards, increasing their export potential and expanding sales markets, and improving staff professionalism.
The speeches of the Turkmen entrepreneurs confirmed their readiness to elevate the development of cooperation between the private sector of our country and leading global companies to a qualitatively new level.
Bilateral meetings were held within the framework of the forum, during which prospects for expanding interaction were considered.
Overall, the Turkmen-American Business Forum became not only a platform for exchanging views on priority vectors of partnership but also an important step toward strengthening the fruitful economic dialogue. Furthermore, the current business event opened new horizons for the implementation of a number of joint large-scale and long-term projects and the identification of relevant areas for cooperation. In the mutual opinion of the forum participants, the practical realization of the agreements reached and the plans outlined will serve the benefit of the two friendly countries.
